Unless something really unexpected happens. Mark Higgins was 2nd fastest, looking ever more secure in the lead and now playing the percentage game. Former Mobil 1 British Champion Mark told us "We backed off on the rough stuff, speeded up towards the end where it got smooth". Neil Wearden said "Happy enough with that, that was the stage where I had the accident during recce, so I wasn't over confident with my notes, but the car was very good over the rough stuff". Marko Ipatti told us "We were on a good pace then the rear was sliding and I knew I had the puncture, maybe I hit a rock, 5 miles with puncture" Jarmo Kytolehto seems to have retired, apparently his Coupe was on fire 2 miles into Myherin. Stuart Egglestone set the fastest group N time and said "We're getting the finger out now". Gavin Cox was up on 2 wheels at the hairpin in front of the TV cameras. Guy Anderson changed the gearbox in his Escort Cosworth last night and he is being a bit careful with the replacement. Swedish driver Johan Kressner had a front wheel puncture for 10 clicks of Myherin, dropped over a minute. Richard Davis had a good run. Nik Elsmore made a few mistakes and thinks his turbo is going. Mats Andersson said "Starting to enjoy the car, feels good, but it is too small for the rough stuff". Natalie Barratt was off briefly in a quarry, damaged the front of the car, Stella has a slightly sore neck, but still going well. John Morton/Allan Whittaker had yet another puncture - and said "We're too old to change it!" Paul Griffiths has the rear end of his Subaru sorted after deranging the suspension in Hafren. Mark Lawn was very pleased to get through a stage without a puncture. Corporal Mark Simmons still leads the Lex Land Rover Challenge although 2nd placed Lance Bombardier Jim Clark pulled 20s back on the first stage today. 19 year old Ian Barrett and co driver Simon Ashton on their first pace note rally in the Delphi backed Corsa ran out of brake shoes yesterday and cleaned Halfords in Wrexham out of their stock of linings last night to keep the car going!
