Robin Phillips and Michael Gibson really stamped their authority on this formula karting sponsored Mourne Rally, with another fastest time through stage 11 Big Gullion taking 13 seconds from David Armstrong and now leads by a commanding 39 seconds.  Robin reported no problems over stages 9 and 10 but felt that Big Gullion was very slippy towards the start, and this was reinforced by David Armstrong who reported a big spin, which accounts for the larger time gap between the leading pair.

Camillus Bradley continues to hold third place with a storming run in his Mk2, though Denis Biggerstaff moves into joint fourth along side Glen Allen, after setting fastest time on SS9 Camlough.  Denis was another driver complaining about just how slippy the roads have become on this the third and final loop.

George Robinson with Francis Regan on the notes was in a bit of a hurry at the end of SS11 Big Gullion, having broken a drive shaft in the stage dropping him very little time, but they were hoping to apply some minor repairs prior to the final Cooley Mountain stage.

Alan Nesbitt has extended his lead over Micky McArdle to eight seconds after those last three stages, while Norman Armstrong in his Mk2 is on a total of 59.46.

Still going well are John Cairns in his Impreza leading GpN, while Denis Patterson lies just outside the top ten in his Escort.  Class leaders after stage eight include Marshall Kennedy and David McElroy in their 205, Paul Spence and Gary Aiken in a Corsa lead class 3.  Conrad Munnis and Margo Christie lead class 4 in their Corsa while event sponsor Jim Feenan and Mark Elliott are going well in their formula karting Astra.  Geoff Heggan in the Fortress Signs Starlet is well into the top thirty with Mark McDonnell making a welcome return to the co drivers seat after his recent illness.
