David Armstrong and Herbie Blackburn once again proved their prowess on the challenging Cooley Mountain stage setting a time of 8.50 2 seconds faster than Phillips.  David really on the pace over that stage, but he says he has no answer to Robin Phillips on the tighter Slieve Gullion stage, Robin maintaining his lead of 22 seconds here at service.

Camillus Bradley is really flying in his Mk2, setting equal second fastest time over Cooley to match Phillips, but more importantly he took another four seconds from his friend and rival Glen Allen in his similar Mk2 Escort.  Allen being over shadowed for once, admits it is a great battle with Camillus and he is in a secure fourth place.

George Robinson had a good time on Cooley of 8.53 to move ahead once again in front of Denis Biggerstaff in his Metro 6R4, Denis is starting to feel a little bit more comfortable on the stages.

Alan Nesbitt and David Smith actually set joint fastest time overall on SS5 Camlough, and they feel that there may have been a problem with their time over stage seven when they stopped their clock ten seconds faster than the official time keeper, though Alan admits to not being too worried about it.

In the Border Championship battles Maurice Moffett and Gavin Campbell are reported to have stopped in their rwd 205, while Micky McArdle holds 8th place overall in his BMW M3 in his pursuit of the championship.

John and James Cairns continue to lead GpN in the Impreza another storming time over Cooley keeping them well into the top ten in nineth overall, with second place GpN man Richard Hogg just off the leaderboard on a total of 40.05, Richard joking here at service that everytime he goes over a bump, his windscreen wipers come on, distracting him from the job in hand.
