Through the short Beaghs stage Robert Woodside was fastest again
on 1.24 with McGarrity just 1s back on 1.25.  Kevin O'Kane had a good time, 3rd fastest, 1.26, the Omagh landscape gardener making up for a sleepy start.  Robert Woodside reckons there is still a bit to come from the McKinstry Subaru, that the level of grip is much higher than anything he's had before.  Co-driver Dean Beckett, sitting with Robert for the first time, joked "Must be doing alright haven't got my P45 just yet!"  McGarrity told us he is still being cautious with the new car as he feels out what the suspension is going to do next.

Woodland Championship leader Denis Biggerstaff had an equal fastest time in stage 1, but was not nearly as impressive through  stages 2 and 3, the Kinallen man telling us "I just seemed to tighten up, didn't settle, the notes didn't flow.  It's my own fault, I have to pull myself together, there's a championship there to be won".  No such worries for Robin Philips who is driving as well over the gravel as he has for a long time.  Richard Hall told us "I'm just lacking a bit of confidence braking a fraction early, I'm a bit disappointed to tell you the truth".Richard Hogg leads the gpN category in his newly acquired ex Neil Simpson Lancer. Richard saying "It is a fabulous car, the turbo boost is down a bit but maybe its as well or I'd probably put it in a ditch"  Maurice Gass in the Milltown Fuels Celica is finding the rear suspension too hard and he is going to try to soften it.  Glenn Allen is still worried about an oil leak, Glenn just outside the top 10 on 14.31.  John McCarthy/Dan Maguire all the way up from Cork are on a total of 14.26, the boys are on their first visit to the rally and were amazed at how tight the chicane was on Slieveanorra.  Keith White is having another brilliant rally on a total of 14.10.  Raymond Mason lost a few seconds in Slieveanorra when he slid on at the square right, a couple of people have slid on there, Raymond's total 14.24. John Donnelly is on 14.34, his car's anti lag went funny on stage 3.  More news later..BRIAN AND LIZ PATTERSON
