Denis Biggerstaff and Guy Carlisle have totally dominated this Parker Plant Dogleap Stages Rally 2000, despite some mechanical maladies in their ageing Metro 6R4 the reigning Northern Ireland Champion responded to the challenge brought by Richard Hogg with a superb display of driving.  Denis now moves a little closer to Robin Phillips in the championship battle, our unofficial reckoning is that Robin is on a total of 76 points, Denis now on 69 points.

He may be the bridesmaid today, but Richard Hogg has adapted well to his new ex-works Escort Cosworth, after a steady start, he and co driver Mark Hanna really poured it on this afternoon, closing to within 6 seconds of Denis, but never quite getting there.  John Donnelly and Joe McAleese take a well deserved third place in their Escort Cosworth.

Fourth place at the moment is between Keith White and Richard Hall both in their Escort Cosworths, Hall in particular driving really well this afternoon after switching to narrow gravel tyres, while Keith White dropped onto 3 cylinders over the final stage.  Raymond Mason takes sixth and GpN in his Impreza while tied on time is Brendan O'Hagan suffering a loose sump guard.

Glenn Allen and Eugene Donnelly suffered all sorts of problems over the last couple of stages to drop down the leaderboard into eigthth, the exhaust fell off their Escort which was also suffering serious gear box troubles.  Robin Phillips feels lucky to salvage some points towards the championship here today after many spins and overshoots in his DGM Celica.

Last minute retirements include Jimmy Logan and Neil Fitzsimmons who are reported to have stopped in the final stage with their bonnet up.

Congratulations to Maiden City Motorclub and Clerk of the Course Michael Carlin on running another great event along with the support of Limavady Borough Council.  On a personal note we would like to take this opportunity to thank those who helped us this morning!! (you know what we mean), and those who helped us out today with Rally News.
