Denis Biggerstaff arrived at the end of stage 7 covered in sweat, testament to being right on the limit.  Three overshoots in stage six didn't help his cause but a time of 5.44 was still very respectable, but the man really on the move is Richard Hogg.  In his new Escort Cosworth he was fastest in SS6 on 5.35 taking 9 seconds out of Denis but loosing 4 in SS7, Biggerstaff's lead is now down to 5 seconds.

James Gillen continues to hold third but he is reporting brake problems in his Escort Cosworth, while Robin Phillips spun in Cam Forest at exactly the same place as first time around.

Raymond Mason continues to go well and is on a total of 28.42, but he is struggling in the cut up conditions in his GpN Impreza.

Glenn Allen dropped some time in stage seven with gear box problems, a spring on the main shaft has broken and his MK2 Escort is jumping out of gear.

Brendan O'Hagan seems to have stepped up a gear and reckons he is going much better now though he has a loose sump guard.

Retirements include Andy Hawthorne in his Astra while Jim Aitken also retired his Avenger in SS2.
