The first big drama to report on this year's Parker Plant Dogleap Stages Rally is that last year's winner Trevor Moore and Richard Curry, have reportedly rolled their MTC Escort Cosworth into retirement on SS1 Cam Forest.  The stage was stopped for a short time, but both crew members are uninjured, and the delay was only for a couple of minutes.

Reining Woodland Furniture Northern Ireland Champion Denis Biggerstaff and Guy Carisle have stamped their authority on the rally already with fastest times on both the first and second stages, Denis reporting everything is okay.  Current championship leader, Robin Phillips reported 2 big overshoots on the first stage which dropped him 23 seconds to Biggerstaff, but Robin was back on the pace on SS2 abielt only 1 second down on the rally leader.

Local man Richard Hogg is debuting his new ex-works Escort Cosworth, and putting the machine to good effect over those two stages to lie only four seconds down in second place.  Glenn Allen is absolutely flying in his rwd MK2 Escort, setting joint second fastest over SS1 "Yes we had a really good time over the first one" were his comments, dropping only three seconds there, and ultimately another five on SS2.

In GpN Raymond Mason is right on the pace in his new Impreza, embarrassing some of the GpA machines while Jim Crozier in his Proton admitted he was very slow on the first stage and his total is 8.39.  Richard Hall lyes 8th overall despite two big overshoots on the first stage while Frank Kelly is reported to have stopped in SS2 with a puncture, but we believe he is inside the flying finish board.

Running car 21 on the road John Donnelly and Joe McAleese are really on the case in fifth place overall while just of the leaderboard Jimmy Logan and Neil Fitzsimmons are on a total of 8.31.  Mark Barnett in his MK2 Escort is another going well his total after SS2 is 8.34 while Kevin O'Kane and Steven Griffith are just outside the top 10 on 8.28 and report no problems  More News Later Michael Patterson and Zoe Todd
