Frank Meagher's hopes of winning this Cork 20 Rally were finally dashed on stage 11, Musheramore, when his Focus suffered a puncture near the start of the stage.  Andrew Nesbitt, after setting fastest times on stages 9 and 10, was stunningly quick through stage 11, so really even without the puncture Meagher's prospects of victory were not good.  For that 13.8 mile Musheramore test the Cross Refrigeration backed Subaru covered the moorland roads in 10m51s.  Ian Greer recorded 11.16, Kenny McKinstry 11.19 and Austin McHale 11.24.  Meagher told us at stage finish "It was a left five and on the cold tyres she just drifted out and punctured. I had to stop and change it, it was too far to go".  Nesbitt was in a fierce panic at stage finish and we did not get any comment. Greer reported all well, MHale felt things were slightly better. McKinstry had a suspicion that one of his Subaru tyres was soft and he eased back very slightly, and then came to the conclusion that it was just the camber of the road.

Niall McShea was right on the pace and beaming from ear to ear when his Saxo finished the stage, Niall telling us that he took low profile slick tyres, and although it was very dodgy over the bumps he was thoroughly enjoying himself.

Seventh placed Roy White pulled in on a long straight to let Frank Meagher past after Frank had changed the wheel, Roy reckoning that it cost him a few seconds but it wasn't a bother.  Liam Davis was 2nd in gpN starting the day, then slipped to 3rd and has now stopped in Mushermore, we suspect with rear differential trouble. John Dempsey had a good run and moved back into the top 10, after losing 5 minutes yesterday with his spin and getting stuck in a ditch. Sean Keenan has started to speed up again after being slow through stages 9 and 10 when his Corsa Kit Car developed electrical problems. Eugene Donnelly has moved into the lead of the modifieds after some stunning times...while Greg McCormack was stopped in 11 with the bonnet up. FORD KA CHAMPIONSHIP(SS10) John O'Dowed leads by just 1s from Woffinden with Stanley 3rd. In the Historics we hear unofficially that Hutchinson still leads the Post Historics. Dessie Nutt the Historics. Freestone rolled but got going. More later.BRIAN & LIZ PATTERSON
