Through stage 3 the pattern at the front of this Orchard Motorsport Lurgan Park Rally remains the same with Darren Gass once again 2s faster than Kenny McKinstry, who in turn was a second faster than Garry Jennings. This leaves the gap between 1st and 2nd at just over 5s and between 2nd and 3rd just under 6s. At stage finish Darren Gass said. “We were a bit too sideways but still set the time”. Kenny McKinstry was just a fraction slower than his stage 2 time and although he found it slippery to start he said. “It’s the same for everybody”. Derek McGeehan seemed pretty excited at stage finish, and not surprisingly as he reported at stage finish. “We got the anti lag working perfectly on the Corolla but then the throttle was sticking and we had a wild moment on to the grass at the chicane”. Despite that Derek lost very little time. Mark Doyle continues to set very respectable times and reports no problems with his Celica to hold 4th o/a just ahead of Denis Biggerstaff.

Emma McKinstry had another very good time to reinforce her 7th place just ahead of Liam Ryan who is now 2nd in GpN. Stanley Ballantine has a set of second hand soft compound tyres on his Lancer and he holds 3rd GpN. Wesley Patterson lost a few seconds in that 3rd stage when the tyres of his Escort went off the boil but he is still the fastest of the Mk2 Escorts overall. More times coming in include: Stephen Mawhinney in his fabulous ex works Sunbeam Lotus is in 23rd place and leads class 6 for the Historic class ahead of Jimmy McRae in the Chevrolet Firenza Can-Am.
