UNOFFICIAL LEADERBOARD AFTER STAGE 2
1ST (1) Ian Greer/Dean Beckett (Corolla WRC) 12.24.5
2ND (4) Peadar Hurson/Ian Porter (Escort Cos) 12.46.6
3RD (6) Maurice Gass/Geoffrey Orr (Celica) 13.28.1
4TH (12) Seamus Heron/Sean Devlin (Lancer N) 13.28.5
5TH (3) Denis Biggerstaff/Guy Carlisle (Metro 6R4) 13.30.2
6TH (10) Philip Shaw/Ciaran Kelly (Escort) 13.35.3
7TH (7) George Robinson/Francis Regan (Escort Cos) 13.38.7
8TH (2) Daniel & Michael Doherty (Impreza WRC) 14.06.6
9TH (11) Owen Lamont/Philip McCrea (Impreza) 14.19.5
As the above leader board shows the drivers were only able to
give us times after stage two due to a small timing problem at
the end of stage three, which has led some of the drivers to
be late into service here at Gortin, but we have been unofficially
told that it will be sorted out very soon.
Ian Greer continues to extend his lead in the Corolla WRC, though
he describes the stages as "very watery". A man
in problems though was second placed Denis Biggerstaff in his
6R4. As his total stands after two he has dropped to fifth,
and things were equally as bad on SS3 as the little Metro has
suffered not only from power steering failure, but it also has
no brakes, Denis being caught by Peadar Hurson on that last stage
having to pull over and let him through so expect him to be even
further down the leaderboard.
Peadar Hurson reports no problems in his Escort Cosworth though
he did loose a couple of seconds getting past Biggerstaff's 6R4.
Daniel and Michael Doherty are really struggling in their new
Impreza WRC. They reckon the handling isn't right and combined
with the wet slippy conditions they are doing well to keep the
car on the road.
Maurice Gass has moved into a closely fought third place in his
Celica GT4, and like everybody he is finding the conditions tough,
while just 0.4 of a second behind him is GpN leader Seamus Heron
in his Lancer. Other GpN runner Dick Curran is still going
well, and is on a total after SS2 of 14.36.5 putting him just
off the leaderboard.
Owen Lamont in the 'GEM' Impreza reported a big spin on stage
three were he reckoned he dropped at least half a minute trying
to get going again. Top two wheel drive man continues to
be Philip Shaw in his MK2 Escort still going strong in 6th place
overall.
