Last minute dramas turned the leaderboard on it's head.  First thing to happen was that Marko Ipatti deliberately incurred a 10s road penalty at final service, to allow Tapio Laukkanen into 2nd place.  The reason behind this is obscure.

Later in the evening, at post event scrutineering, Neil Simpson's DGM Lancer was found not to comply with the homologation papers. The car was therefore ineligible and was excluded.  The problem centred on the front brake pads.  The photograph on the homologation papers showed the friction material to be slightly shorter than the metal back plate.  The friction material on the pads in the car was the same length as the backing plate.  The officials of the rally had therefore no option but to exclude the car.  There was no suggestion of deliberate cheating, and in fact it is thought that several competitors had bought the same over-the-counter pads.
Ironically, there are bigger brakes homologated for the car which the team was not using.  Interestingly, Marko Ipatti's Lancer was also checked, and was found to have the correct pads.
Obviously the Mobil 1 British Championship points will be altered from the last Rallynews.  Marko Ipatti will increase to 32.
Further to our last Rallynews - Brian Lyall did win the Scottish Championshp part of the rally, with Trevor Moore 2nd and Gordon Smith 3rd. This result reinforces Moore's lead at the top of the points.
International class winners include: Justin Dale in his Peugeot.  Ben Briant in the Ford Puma took class A5. Steve Head in the Proton won class N2.  Ernie Graham won class N3 (Charlie Exton's Honda stopped with a mechanical problem). Spencer Wilkinson won class N1 in the Peugeot 105 Rallye.  There were 38 finishers in the International.
