Through this afternoon’s stages the weather conditions have become progressively worse and the top drivers were all saying that the amount of standing water on the roads was making the going very treacherous. Colm Murphy had a lead of just over 15s on Robert Barrable with Kevin Kelleher a further 13s back. Ahead of the drivers tomorrow lies another very tough day'’ motoring although hopefully the weather won’t be quite so severe.

Colm Murphy spun his Impreza on the penultimate stage this afternoon and then the car wouldn’t re-start. So he switched off the anti lag control and got the car going then forgot to switch the anti lag on again which didn’t help his stage time at all. Robert Barrable had no problems over the last couple of stages apart from the flooded roads and Robert seems to have really switched on to his Skoda today. Kevin Kelleher had a brilliant run over the last few stages and set a fastest time through the Ballinascarthy stage. Kevin paid compliment to his mechanics who really got his Lancer sorted this afternoon.

Daragh O’Riordan in 4th place certainly isn’t out of the hunt but wasn’t happy with his own driving this afternoon and he said. “It just didn’t go our way. Normally I like the wet. Maybe I’m just nervous of this new car”. Danny Barry in 5th place reported that the suspension of his Lancer has been fairly well sorted following the earlier incident where the car went into a ditch at a crossroads. Damien McCarthy was another to ease back over the last 2 Saturday stages but still hold s brilliant 6th in his Civic. Damien is keeping a close eye on his car’s gearbox and another driver, Paul Brown, has offered his spare in case Damien needs to change the unit in the morning. Trevor Mulligan lost a few seconds in stage 7 when he cut a right hand corner too tight and the car went into a ditch and damaged the steering.

John Dalton/Gwynfor Jones have withdrawn their Darrian following gearbox trouble. Kevin O’Connor has relinquished his lead in the Citroen Racing Trophy after crashing out on the final loop of stages today. Mark Sheahan dropped another couple of minutes with a puncture that has knocked his chance of taking the Citroen category lead. David Carney is currently shown as the leading Citroen but that could change when today’s results are fully tabulated. Fergus O’Meara/Liam Brennan had a small mechanical problem at the start of SS7 but got it sorted and then got caught up in Philip Cross’s accident. Stage stopped.
