Early news from the opening 2 stages of this Bulldog International Rally is that Gwyndaf Evans/Chris Patterson are having problems at the end of stage 2 with their Lancer’s gearbox and may not be able to continue.

Cork crew Owen Murphy/James O’Brien retired their Lancer on stage 2 with reported clutch trouble.

Fastest R2 car through the opening stage was Finnish driver Matti Rantanen in his Twingo from the similar car of fellow Finn Jarkko Nikara. Next up was the Citroen C2R2 Max of Mark Donnelly. Robert Barrable was 2nd best Citroen with Richard Sykes 3rd. Elfyn Evans was quickest Fiesta through the first stage and leads class R3 from John Boyd.
