RALLY NEWS No.7 - End of Stage 10 - Sunday @ 10:54:15

RALLY NEWS NO.7

Our first Rally News this morning was due to be posted after stage 10 Belclare, but unfortunately the stage will not run because of the icy conditions.

Ironically it is a beautiful morning and the Galway countryside around Tuam is bright but white in the wintry sunshine.

Stage 11 is also in doubt, but we do not have a decision on that as yet.

There were no major changes to the overnight results.

Some stories from overnight though include: Declan Boyle will not restart as the problem with his Fiesta WRC’s engine has not been fully identified and therefore is not rectified.

We reported last night that Jonny Greer’s Citroen DS3R5 was delayed on the penultimate stage: and then stopped on the final Saturday stage. This transpired to be due to another puncture and as Jonny had used his spare wheel he was unable to finish the stage. He is listed in the overnight results under ‘Rally 2’ rules, but has decided not to carry on. Jonny has an interest in the BRC as well as the Tarmac series, so decisions will have to be made as to which direction to take. William Mavitty retired his GpN Lancer from the fray yesterday due to an electrical fault centred on the isolator switch. He managed to find an auto-spark last night who has re-wired the car and the Lancer is ready to restart the action today, when that finally happens. Another hoping to rejoin is young Marty Gallagher. He ‘beached’ his Peugeot 208 R2 early yesterday. The car was undamaged and Marty is looking forward to getting going again.

Hopefully we will have some rally action later on this morning and we will be able to report some news. As yet there is no revised time table.
