Having set another fastest time to make it four out of four, Garry Jennings said. “It is about 10 per cent drier, we have made no changes to the car and are getting on to it now”.
Declan Boyle was definitely down in the dumps at the end of stage 4. The Donegal man is driving out of his skin to make up for a lack of power in his Fiesta. The Tom Gahan team can not find the problem and are unable to reach the M-Sport computer man to get a diagnosis.
Fastest of the R5 drivers through stage 4 was Josh Moffett and having been subdued on the stages into service he was back in good form although he had made no changes to the car.
Alastair Fisher dropped 2 places in stage 4 and he said. “We had a good enough run. The road is still greasy and we have stayed with the cut slick tyres. In the dry places the road is drier but it is slippier in the slippy places!
Roy White had a very solid run through stage 4 to move up into 3rd. Joe McGonigle switched to Kumho tyres at service and the new rubber is giving him a lot more confidence and he set a good time through SS4. Aaron MacHale is struggling with his new car through the medium speed corners and admits he is not experienced enough to know how to adjust the suspension. His fellow Skoda R5 pilot Paul Rowley lost time when his Skoda R5 sustained a puncture on the opening loop. Willie Mavitty has the misfire on his Lancer cured and continues to lead Group N.
In the National Rally Damien Tourish set fastest time in S4 and said he is not pushing hard. Gary Kiernan was 2nd fastest but could make little impression on the flying Tourish. Liam Howlett crashed his Escort in SS2, crew is OK. Ross Forde has moved into the lead of the Historic Rally on stage 4 from Andy Johnson in his Chevette HSR.
