When Garry Jennings brought his Subaru into the finish of this Orchard Motorsport Lurgan Park Rally it was his 4th victory in the row. Co-driven by Michael Moran, Garry led the rally from start to finish today. He commented ‘We really enjoyed it. Kenny McKinstry kept us honest as did Declan Boyle. It was a pity about the change to the weather. We had a good lead when we hit the bale in stage 6, luckily we were well covered.’ Kenny McKinstry, 2nd here so many times, as well as winning the rally on 11 previous occasions, said ‘A brilliant day, a real mixture of conditions made it difficult but I enjoyed it. But I always enjoy Lurgan Park’. Donegal cousins Declan and Brian Boyle, so often on the top step of the podium, were not too downhearted about finishing 3rd today in their Fiesta WRC. He said. ‘We came here today to learn the Park and to enjoy the rally, which we did. And we gave a cheer between ourselves just to get a finish’. Derek McGeehan in his Mini WRC co driven by Laurie Smyth, finished a good 4th today. Derek McGarrity/Diarmuid Falvey were 5th in their Fiesta WRC. Derek said ‘The rally was alright for me. The conditions were patchy and I am still learning the car in the wet. These boys in front are very match fit. The car is good it is the driver that is the problem’.

Looking on down the leaderboard - Stuart Biggerstaff finished 6th and tried very hard to catch McGarrity but missed out by 0.6 of a second. Robert Woodside set a very good time at the end to finish in 7th just 0.1 of a second ahead of Tipperary visitor Pat O’Connell. Robert is not really rally match fit and it took him all day to get in the groove. Damien Toner/Thomas Treanor were 9th and best 2 wheel drive and also winner of class 4. Damien has won the last 2 Loughgall events which would indicate that these short sharp events suit him well. Damien, as are several of the other drivers, is heading down to Trim to contest the ALMC Rally tomorrow. Alan Smyth/Richard Kinloch have won class 2 by a narrow margin of 3s from Kyle White/Sean Topping (Citroen C2). Drew Wylie has won cl.8 and Stephen Mawhinney won cl.7 – the 2 Historic categories.

Finally for now many thanks to all who helped and supported our Rally News service today and very well done to the North Armagh MC team for putting on another splendid rally.
