Here at Lurgan Park the rain held off for the first 20 cars and then a sudden shower made the stages slippy. As can be seen above Garry Jennings was fastest, but the 3 times winner was not happy at stage finish as he peered very closely at the myriad warning lights gauges and switches of his Impreza. He muttered. ‘Oil pressure light flashing, not good’. Kenny McKinstry was next up at the stage finish, less than 2s slower than Jennings and he reported that there were a couple of places in the stage where he ran a bit wide. Of course, inch perfect is the name of the game in this intensive competition. Declan Boyle was to a certain extent finding his feet here at Lurgan Park and did not seem too unhappy with his time, which was well in touch with the leader.

Derek McGarrity commented ‘I was too untidy’. Derek McGeehan in the Mini WRC reported. ‘I was way too cautious’. Jonny Leonard in the Lancer
reported an untidy run. Former NI Rally Champion Stuart Biggerstaff has not been doing much rallying recently. He showed he was a bit rusty when he stalled his Impreza WRC on the start line. Robert Woodside had a very good run in the Dom Buckley prepared Fiesta R5 following a torrid time yesterday in testing when the car suffered some drive shaft and differential problems.

Keith White in his Mk1 example was fastest of the Escorts and recorded a time of 2m1s Frank Kelly said he was spinning the back wheels at every corner and found the stage slippy. Damien Toner had a good run but felt that he needs a softer compound tyre on the front of his Escort. Adrian Hetherington is driving his co driver James Boyd’s Escort today. Adrian did very well to record a time of 2.25. It is changed times in rallying as there is only one 2 litre Group N car in the entry today and that is Stanley Ballantine in his Lancer and he set a time of 2.25 and said ‘A good run but in the wrong gear a wheen of times’.
