Garry Jennings really hammered his Subaru through stage 6 but there was a surprise in store as Kenny McKinstry hammered as well, and he was fastest. Okay, McKinstry is still not leading, but even with 2 stages to go this rally is far from over. When McKinstry was asked what made the difference on that stage 6 he laughed and said. `I got my hands on a set of Kevin Barrett`s tyres and I am not being too careful with them!` Garry Jennings aid about his run. `That was the first stage I got real good grip`. Derek McGeehan reckons now it is down to the power of the respective cars and his 1600 world rally car is not going to match a 2 litre turbo car.

Another driver who went really well on that stage 6 was Stuart Biggerstaff and he was 4th quickest through the test. When Stuart`s father Denis, who is running a few cars back, brought his Metro into the control and saw Stuart`s time, he joked. `I will have to turn this pacemaker of mine up a bit!` Jonny Leonard was trying really hard and recorded a time of 1.51.7. Pat O`Connell was a fraction quicker than Jonny so it is going to be a grandstand finish between these 2 Lancers. Emma McKinstry had a good run but she is well down the order in 18th place following her earlier problems.

Wesley Patterson continues to hold a commanding lead in the MK2 Escort category. Keith White has managed to get the misfiring problem sorted on his Mk1 Escort and he is in 124th o/a. Frank Kelly is 125: David Bogie 16th: Andrew Bustard is his Lancer 17th: Alan Smyth is 19th and leads class 2 from Kyle White, Callum Devine and Lloyd Hutchinson. John Devlin is going very well in his Sunbeam and he leads class 3 and is in 20th o/a. Interestingly, Donagh Kelly, co driven by his son Eamonn, is 2nd in that class 3 with his Mk1 Escort. Donagh taking a break from his Tarmac and National Rally Championships campaign to have a bit of fun here today.

In Group N Paul Barrett/Declan Tumilty still lead in their Impreza by just over a second from Mark Massey/Niall Burns (Lancer).
