Fastest through stage 3 was Garry Jennings by just 0.2 of a second from Derek McGeehan with Kenny McKinstry 3rd fastest and he was just a split second up on Derek McGarrity. It is very close at the front, although McGarrity dropped a few seconds on stage 2 with his stall at the chicane. Rally leader McGeehan told us. `I knew I lost out to Garry there, I was on the grass 3 times and it was slower`. Garry Jennings was in fact slightly slower in stage 3 than he had been earlier, and he said. `The harder you try!` However Garry was not to know that most of the other drivers were slower as well because the stage was so greasy. One of the few drivers to really improve was Kevin Kelleher that brought him on to the leaderboard. Kevin said that was his first clean run. Emma McKinstry stalled at the 5 left over bridge and dropped a few seconds.

Tipperary`s Pat O`Connell had another good run to reinforce his position on the leaderboard but he also remarked on how greasy it was, and then said. `Sure it’s the same for everyone`. Keith White changed the spark plugs on his Mk1 Escort but as soon as he started stage 3 it lapsed back on to 3 cylinders. Robert Woodside is trying to keep the Porsche on the straight and narrow away from the muddy patches, and his times improve with every stage.

Raymond Johnston (Escort) would appear to be leading the History category from Raymond Nelson (Escort) with Stephen Mawhinney in the Sunbeam 3rd. Alan Smyth leads class 2 from Kyle White, both in Escorts. Wesley Patterson had a brilliant time through SS3 to lead the Mk2 Escorts with Adrian Hetherington 2nd Mk2. Frank Kelly has dropped to 3rd following a puncture. David Bogie is just outside that leading group and his Escort is having some power steering issues. It is a far cry from last Saturday for David when he set fastest time on every stage to win the Scottish Rally in his Fiesta R5. Martin Teggart dropped back a couple of places after a spin at the park gates in stage 3.
