Through stage 2 Gortreade, Derek McGarrity was fastest with Desi Henry 0.4 of a second slower. Henry said at stage finish. `There is nothing left in the car, we have it maxed out!` McGarrity said. `No problems, lovely stage to drive`. Derek McGeehan reckoned he was a wee bit cautious on that stage and he dropped from 2nd to 3rd. Marty McCormack had a very quick run through stage 2 but still stays in 4th o/a. David Bogie in 5th told us. `I never enjoyed a stage as much. We are going to make a few changes to the suspension now. The car is cocking a rear wheel. Really though, I have never been made so welcome on a rally as this one`.

Further stories include… Paddy McVeigh got caught out on a wet patch, had a very big moment and was almost in the ditch. Frank Kelly is still fastest of the Escorts and he reported that on a big jump in stage 2 the co-driver`s intercom boom dropped down so there were no notes for a while`. Alistair Cochrane is reportedly parked up in stage 1. Seamus O`Connell reports a bent steering rack on his Escort following the big stage 2 jump-dip. Vivian Hamill has been setting good times despite running too soft a tyre on his Escort.

In the race for R2 honours Callum Devine is really flying in his new Opel Adam and is 8s up on Jon Armstrong with Rob Duggan a further 5s back. Jon Armstrong is going to make slight adjustments to the cornering grip of his Fiesta here at service. Callum Devine was driving one of these new Opels last weekend on the Lakes and scored a very impressive class win. Calvin Beattie lost a couple of seconds when his Fiesta slid into a ditch briefly after the chicane on stage 1.

Clive Kilpastrick/Conor McGinty lead group N in their Lancer and in 15th o/a. Kieron Graffin is driving a GpN Subaru today instead of his usual Evo 10 and finds the car a lot different, slower through the gears but better through the corners. Geoff McMahon is 2nd in GpN and lying 22nd o/a. Simon Woodside is 3rd in the category less than 2s behind McMahon.
