Craig Breen was fastest through stage 2 to move ahead of Robert Barrable. Times coming in from stage 3 show that Craig was fastest again by a couple of seconds from Barrable to lead by 6s as the cars head back to Belfast and service at Titanic Quarter.

In the National Circuit of Ireland there was early disappointment for No.4 seed Paddy McVeigh as his Subaru stopped on the way to stage 1 when it overheated. As can be seen above Declan Boyle was fastest, but the Tarmac Champion was far from happy at stage finish. His Subaru yet again had electrical problems and the launch control mechanism failed, so that he had zero power to the first junction. It did then reset itself but Declan is very frustrated. Derek McGarrity admitted to making a big mistake by choosing the wrong tyres for the first stage. He went on a cut dry weather slick tyre, and of course the roads were like skating rinks. Kenny McKinstry made a similar mistake by picking slick tyres and he said. `I should have known better`. Frank Kelly said. `My heart was in my mouth through the stage. I had a wet weather front tyre and a slick rear and it was as difficult as I can ever remember`.

There was heartbreak for Fintan McGrady as he crashed his Escort into a tree on a square left on that first stage, his home patch. Stuart Biggerstaff is having all sorts of problems with the throttle mechanism of his Subaru, and he dropped at least 30s and was outside the leaderboard. Ashley Dickson`s Lancer suffered a puncture in stage 1,

Further news on the International Rally is that Marty McCormack`s Skoda has dropped quite a few minutes in SS2. Robert Woodside in the new Porsche RGT was in 32nd place after SS2 and commented. `The car is well lairy and is not exactly designed for wet conditions on narrow Irish roads!` Vojtech Stajf had a puncture in his GpN Subaru and lost a bit of time in stage 1. The Hungarian driver Hideg commented after stage 2. `It is slippy and fast, too much big jumps, little bit crazy but very good`.
