On the first stage after service which was the 2nd run over the 4.12 mile Carrigan test, Josh Moffett was 2s faster than Desi Henry and 3s up on Donagh Kelly. This put Josh back into the lead. Even though he was not fastest Donagh Kelly commented at stage finish that he was getting the hang of the Mini WRC. Josh Moffett reported that he had asked his engineer Gerry McGarrity to make some changes to the Lancer`s suspension and that it had improved the car even more. Interestingly, this lancer that Josh is driving today is one that has been resurrected from an older car by Gerry McGarrity, and is intended purely for forestry use. Josh took it out last night for a test drive and had a major incident/. This left Gerry burning the midnight oil to straighten out the car!

Kenny McKinstry said he had had a good feed at service and felt all the better for it and was driving much faster! He did say though that there were rocks the size of sheep starting to appear in the stage. Other drivers also reported rough patched appearing. Adrian Hetherington`s Escort incurred a puncture half way through that 5th stage. Adrian has such a lead in the Mk2 category that he did not seem too concerned. Indeed Frank Kelly has his Escort back on course following his excursion on stage 3 and was only 2s slower than Adrian through that 5th stage. James Gillen has been all sorts of problems with his Subaru engine stalling at chicanes. However, he is hanging in well.

LATEST NEWS – times coming in from stage 6, Big Dog 2, show Josh Moffett fastest on stage time but has incurred a 1m penalty for arriving early at the stage control. This would appear to show Donagh Kelly now leading the rally by 15s from Desi Henry with Martin Cairns 3rd, Pat O1Connell 4th, Kenny McKinstry 5th, Sam Moffett 6th and Josh Moffett relegated to 7th.

In the up to 1600 category cars that are running first on the road Conor Kelly now leads by 23s from Dominic Leonard in his Civic with Jordan Hone still going well in 3rd in his Micra.
