The large crowds here at this Orchard Motorsport Lurgan Park Rally are being treated to a brilliant driving display by No.1 seed Garry Jennings, who has just hurled his Subaru Impreza WRC through stage 5 in a time of 1m53s. Derek McGarrity was on 1m55s, Kenny McKinstry 1.57 and Derek McGeehan 1.58, as was Kevin Barrett.

Garry Jennings made just one comment when he finished the stage. `That felt good`. Derek McGarrity admitted he was a bit timid at the spot where he overshot on the last stage. Derek McGeehan in 3rd said he had a good run but he is keeping an eye out for McKinstry behind as Kenny seems to have got a full head of steam in his Subaru following his turbo problems earlier. When we asked Kenny was exactly the problem had been he said. `The boys changed pipes and boxes and I don`t know what all, but it seems to be fixed`. Kevin Barrett said he felt a lot more confident on that run because he was a little more familiar with the layout of the stage. Pat O`Connell continues to lead group N and is turning in some brilliant times.

Wesley Patterson was fastest of the Escorts. Frank Kelly is just a second or two per stage down on Wesley and Frank admitted that he is just not in the mood today for the sort of commitment it would take to match Wesley. Shane McGirr reckons he has his rear wheel drive Starlet at last sorted following his accident earlier in the year, and he leads class 3 and is just ahead of Frank Kelly. Keith White had another brilliant time, but of course he lost so much time in stage 3 when he clipped a wheel that he is having to give best to Wesley Patterson. Raymond Johnston leads the Historic Class 8 in his Escort and Stephen Mawhinney the historic class 7 in his Sunbeam Lotus.
