RALLY NEWS No.2 - Service - Sunday @ 11:19:28

RALLYNEWS NO.2 End of stage 1/Sunday 11.15

UNOFFICIAL LEADERBOARD AFTER STAGE 1 MEENYMORE
1st (2) Declan & Brian Boyle (Impreza WRC) 6.15
2nd (4) Donagh Kelly/Kevin Flanagan (Focus WRC) 6.24
3rd (3) Niall Maguire/Enda Sherry (Impreza WRC) 6.32
4th (5) James Stafford/Amy Ryan (Darrian ) 6.34)
5th (6) Roy White/James O`Brien (MG S2000) 6.35
6th (8) Sam Moffett/James O`Reilly (Lancer N) 6.36

The above times are provisional and are from the first few cars only.

When Declan Boyle reached the end of the stage he felt his Subaru was down on power and the tyre compounds were too soft for the warm conditions. However, there was certainly nothing wrong with his time, 9s up on his closest pursuer, Donagh Kelly. Donagh commented about the stage. `It went alright``. Niall Maguire`s co driver Enda Sherry was not able to make the notes yesterday, so he was in at the deep end this morning that makes their time of 6.32 pretty good. James Stafford said that his Darrian was in no way suited to the bumpy nature of that stage but he still set a very respectable time.

In Group N Sam Moffett had a good run to be fastest. His brother Josh had a big moment into the first junction of the stage, his Lancer arriving nearly backwards that possibly cost a second or tow. His time was 6.39. Stephen Wright`s Lancer had a slight bit of damage to front left corner and bits of grass sticking out. His time was 6.45. Pat Kirk was back on 7.17 and his Lancer showed signs of frontal damage, Pat admitted to an overshoot on the first square right in the stage. Eugene Meegan recorded 6.53.

In the Modified section Declan Gallagher recorded a time of 6.56 but Russell Woods in the Escort show showing 6.27. This seems to be against the trend although if it is correct it would catapult Russell into 3rd o/a. We are currently trying to check it out. Richard Moffett in the Starlet seemed to have had a very good run and recorded 6.45. Desi Henry in his Citroen DS3R3 recorded 6.52.
