THE ABOVE TIMES ARE VERY PROVISIONAL AT THE MOMENT

The big news this afternoon is that Darren Gass has put his Subaru off the road in stage 13. The car is unable to continue. Darren and his co driver Enda Sherry are unhurt. The information we have is that the car is not badly damaged. It is a real shame that Tarmac Champion Darren has gone as the battle between himself and Garry Jennings for the lead of this Donegal International Rally has been truly titanic since the start with just seconds separating the two. Once again conditions were difficult for the drivers and Garry said at stage finish. `I cannot go any harder`. Sam Moffett was first on the scene of the Gass accident and he had to slow and lost perhaps 15s making sure that Darren and Enda were OK. Next along was Derek McGarrity in his Focus and Derek did not lose any time at the scene of the accident, but he did not have a fantastic run through the stage as the clutch of the Focus is still playing up.

Donagh Kelly had a really good time as he gets more and more used to his Focus. He was 2nd fastest in that stage 13. Seamus Leonard had a good run to take 3rd fastest. Darragh O`Riordan suffered the worst of the heavy rain and said there were times he could hardly see where he was going. Martin Doherty pushed hard in his GpN Lancer but still had to give best to Stephen Wright.

In the National Rally Gary McPhillips` Escort had a slight overshoot at a junction. Manus Kelly lives on the stage and gave it a good go. However Frank Kelly was fastest from Craig Breen. Craig had a worry over his Escort back axle as a bearing was turning on the crown wheel end of a shaft and his mechanics have put a small tack electric weld on to hold it steady.
