The above times are provisional and there are more cars arriving into service as we produce this.
There is a rare old battle going on now for the lead of the rally. Sam Moffett was 8s faster than Declan Boyle through stage 3, which means Declan now leads by approximately 5s. When Sam Moffett brought the McKinstry Impreza S14 into service he said. `This car is phenomenal, mind blowing. It just sticks to the road. I did know the last 2 miles of the stage but not the rest of it.` Declan Boyle told us. `The brakes are a bit better but I am finding it wild slippy.` Third placed Darragh O`Riordan is still feeling extremely unwell and his co-driver Tony McDaid reckons it is doubtful if they will continue. Niall Maguire in 4th seems to have his Subaru gear change sorted so he is starting to go a bit better. Darren Gass in 5th place has tried a few different tweaks on his car and also had the wrong tyres fitted for the first loop, but the Tarmac Champion will hopefully settle down now.
Roy White in his amazing little MG S2000 rounds off the top 6. Roy lost a little momentum in stage 3 when he ran wide on a corner and filled the rear right rim with mud. Further stories include: Frank Kelly was on the wrong tyres and also has brake problems. His total is now 29.22. James Belton in the Impreza WRC reckons he was too cautious on the first 2 stages and you would need a calendar to calculate his time – he went better on SS3, more respectable.,
Donagh Kelly retired his Impreza on stage 2 after hearing a little noise in the engine. Some anti lag valve seems to have jammed and Donagh was not prepared to take chances with the motor. Shane Maguire has retired his hired Lancer because of gearbox trouble. Stephen Wright has pulled out when a misfire came into his Lancer engine. There is no sign of Daniel McKenna here at service, more news to follow. Paddy McVeigh lost time with an overshoot at a junction in SS3. Martin Doherty continues to lead GpN but Josh Moffett has speed up and equalled Martin`s time through SS3. Josh made a cautious start following his accident last weekend on the Wm. Loughman.
