Scratch time included for final stage.

There was a real sting in the tail, a drama really, when Denis Cronin regained the lead from Brian O`Mahony on the penultimate stage but then Denis sadly crashed his Subaru on the final stage to leave O`Mahony clear to cruise through to victory. It is believed that the Cronin accident is not too serious although his Subaru did reportedly roll. Thankfully there are no injuries reported. Brian`s father Frank tried for many years to win here on this West Cork Rally but never succeeded. His son Brian rose to the occasion today with some great stage times that put overnight leader Cronin under real pressure. For Owen Murphy second today and winning group N was also a marvellous achievement. Group N cars are not supposed to mix it with World Rally Cars! Daragh O`Riordan has moved into 3rd place at the finish that is quite an achievement in his brand new rally car, the first Fiesta WRC to rally in Ireland.

Provisionally John Dalton finishes best 2 wheel drive with his Darrian in 5th o/a and Frank Kelly best Escort in 6th place. Stephen Carey has a real dream result bringing his Civic into the top 10 and winning cl.3. Jason Ryan did well also in his Starlet to win Cl.11 and take 10th o/a.
Welsh visitor Tomas Davies has finished 11th o/a just ahead of the similar FIA K class Historic Escort of Wesley Patterson.

Finally for now very well done to CoC Martin Godfrey and his wife Mags as well as all the hardworking Cork MC team for putting on such a good event. Many thanks to all who supported and helped with our RallyNews. Thanks as well to the splendid Dougie Hughes who celebrates his 80th birthday this month.
