Several of the top drivers were faster than the set “bogey”
time for stage 6, which meant no change at the top of the leaderboard.
The designated minimum time for the stage was 6 minutes and young Norwegian
driver Andreas Mikkelsen set a time of 5.52.5 in his Focus WRC. Kris Meeke
did 5.56.3. Eugene Donnelly 5.57.5. Mark Higgins 5.59.1.
Further down the order slightly Austin MacHale was a few seconds off the
pace which allowed Mark Higgins to get in front.
In Group N Colm Murphy continues to lead, Colm in 15th place overall.
James Cullen was 2nd in group N, Alan Ring 3rd although we hear Ring is
running a little late following stage 6.
Early news from stage 7 Brenagh River, is that the amazing Andreas Mikkelsen
is fastest, by just a fraction of a second from Eugene Donnelly and Kris
Meeke. We do not have times as yet for Kevin Lynch. Mark Higgins
is being shown as 4th fastest but we cannot be definitive until we get
Lynch’s time.
In the National Rally Wesley Patterson is being shown on official results
as the leader. Tom Holton was shown as 2nd but he has pulled out because
of an engine noise in his Celica. While early leader Johnny O’Sullivan
has also retired because of an engine problem on his Escort WRC.
Noel McCarrick has retired from the international following an accident.
On the latest results we have Brian O’Mahony continues to lead cl.6
in his Clio. Ken O’Neill is now into 2nd in that class, his
Puma ahead of Andrew Bushe.
Eleventh in the International is Aaron MacHale, 12th Melvyn Evans, 13th
Gareth Jones, 14th JJ Fleming.
