The above times are provisional and from the first few cars only.
The leading drivers reported the opening stage of this year’s
West Cork Rally to be dry, but slippy and quite dusty.
The general comments from the drivers were also that they were being
careful and glad to get the first stage over.
Donie O’Sullivan had some clutch trouble on that opening test.
We do not know the details as yet, perhaps he just overheated it.
In Group N Kevin Kelleher was the fastest of the first couple of
production cars, 17s up on James O’Sullivan. We have
an unconfirmed report that Owen Murphy has got off to a dreadful
start, his Lancer’s turbo charger blown leaving parc ferme
at the Model Village.
