Tim McNulty was fastest through
the ultra quick Rock Chapel stage, Tim’s Pierse backed Subaru
stopping the clock for the test on 5.45.2. Eugene Donnelly had
a time of 5.47.3 and Donie O’Sullivan 5.47.7. McNulty was
always going to stand in the car over the fast sections today
and it looks like its paying off. Gareth Jones had a good run
through as well and reported no problems. Likewise Eugene Donnelly
said. “Happy enough, settling in”.
In Group N Seamus Leonard
continues to lead and indeed had fastest group N time so far –
Seamus’ new Lancer stopped the clock on 6.07.9 whereas Alan
Ring had 6.16.1, but we are waiting on more times coming in.
Out of the Group N fray and
indeed out of the rally is Garry Jennings & James O’Brien.
They have crashed their Lancer about half way through the Rock
Chapel stage.
Earlier Walter Walsh/Sean
Duggan retired their Impreza when it got stuck in 3rd gear and
burnt the clutch.
Eoin Doyle took delivery of
Brian Murphy’s Group A Impreza for this Rally of the Lakes,
but unfortunately was unable to start this morning as he hurt
his back.
News on Gareth MacHale &
Paul Nagle from Argentina is that they have the gearbox changed,
humidity is very high, have survived a couple of punctures and
are running third on the road and are 10th overall. (With thanks
to Noel Clarke for that information).
