UNOFFICIAL HISTORIC L/BOARD AFTER STAGE 10 Shanera
1ST (1) Ray Cunningham/Richard Hyland (Mini Cooper) 1.22.18
2nd (2) Dessie Nutt/Geraldine McBride (Porsche 911) 1.22.28
3rd (17) Adrian Kermode/Liz Jordan (Porsche 911) 1.30.05
4th (72) James Stait/Gill Cotton (MG Midget) 1.30.06
5th (47) Aaron Tracy/Alan Tracy (Mini Cooper) 1.31.04
6th (24) Phillip Wylie/John Lemon (MGB) 1.31.58
It is down to the wire for the top Historic competitors
Ray Cunningham and Dessie Nutt. The last stage, Shanera, should
suit Nutt’s Porsche better than the Mini because the roads
are so fast. An added twist to the situation is that there is
a question mark over one of Cunningham’s times and the gap
between the two is either 10s or 5s. Hopefully it will be made
completely clear before the crews start the last stage at approximately
15.30.
UNOFFICIAL POST HISTORICS L/BOARD AFTER STAGE 10

Following the retirement of Nick Whale when he slid his
Porsche into a Ballaghbeama ditch Todd Falvey has had a fairly
clear run at the head of this post historic section, free of any
real pressure from behind. Still Falvey is pretty nervous going
into this final stage. A victory would mean a lot to him and as
always in rally there is plenty to go wrong. Joe Connolly has
driven superbly over today’s stages, the Redmills man pulling
chunks of time back following his delays last night when his Escort
broke its gear stick. Similarly Frank Cunningham has driven very
hard today and pulled back a lot of time following his Escort’s
misfire on the Saturday stages. We mentioned on the last RallyNews
that James Sutherland had reportedly stopped, this has been confirmed,
his 3rd place disappearing with a trip into a ditch in Ballaghbeama.
While Mike Doody’s 5th place evaporated like the water in
his Mini’s radiator following head gasket failure. Martin
Ward is 7th Post Historic in his Manta. Martin Sheehan 8th: John
Hackett 9th: Craig McWilliam 10th.

at service include replacing the starter motor and one of the
rear shock absorbers, otherwise young Martin is on course with
just one stage remaining.

Solberg 3rd. Anton Alen has won group N. Gareth MacHale’s

leak in the transmission, but he may be classified 16th o/a under
Super Rally rules. Matthew Wilson was 12th. Niall McShea’s
Lancer stopped with a broken ball joint … but Niall attends
Buckingham Palace next Wednesday to collect his MBE! Jan Molder
