Tim McNulty was fastest through stages 3 and 4 as he battles back from 15th overall to 6th inside those 2 stages. Charlie Donnelly was 2nd fastest, Charlie playing a gentle game at the front just doing enough maintain his lead and go for maximum Dunlop Championship points. McNulty commented. “We are upping the pace alright but there’s more in us, but we’re still a little ragged”. Michael Barrable is having a real good run today to hold 2nd place, the Dublin car dealer saying “Enjoying it now the car’s handling very well”. Aaron MacHale in 3rd picked slightly used tyres for that loop and it really didn’t pay off, his times just a few seconds off the pace. Former multiple Dunlop National champion Niall Maguire in 4th reported “Everything 100 per cent”. Noel Redmond in 6th attacked the bales on a stage 4 chicane, otherwise OK and made up a little time on his 7th place after stage 2.

Noel McCarrick had been in 5th place leaving service after stage 2 but has crashed his Subaru on the first corner of stage 4. Martin Doherty had been up to 3rd overall following stage 2, but his Subaru had an alternator bracket problem on the way to stage 3 and also an overshoot so he has dropped a few seconds. Sean Gallagher reports no real dramas and is having a great battle with David McNulty, the latter continues to set really good times as he settles in to his Impreza. PJ McGrath lost a few seconds when he had an overshoot and the car stalled on stage 3.

In Group N Ian Barrett has lost his advantage, his Lancer suffering a blown turbo in stage 4. The rally is being held here at service for 35 minutes to facilitate a funeral at stage 5. this delay could enable Barrett to get his Lancer turbo changed. Gabriel Martin now leads the category, Gabriel going well. While Willie Fannin has softened the suspension on his Impreza and he’s a bit happier but making no impression on Martin’s times. Kevin Kelleher has speeded up. Clonakilty man Kevin discovered some gasket problem with his Lancer during the week and the car is going a lot better now.

In the 2 wheel drive battle Maurice Moffett has just 2s in hand over Sean Lyons. Enda Keenan is a fair bit back after his earlier spin. Paddy Boyce is going really well, Paddy and co driver Marty Sherlock unofficially leading class 13 and not that far behind Moffett and Lyons in the overall battle for 2 wheel drive supremacy.
