The news from the end of stage 3 is that Guy Wilks was fastest and reports no problems. Mark Higgins was 2nd fastest and Markko Martin 3rd fastest. Having said that, we have no time as yet for Gareth Jones who is on a bit of a charge. There was heavy rain falling and Norwegian driver Mikkelsen was having wiper trouble. Eamonn Boland stopped and retired from the rally, his Focus WRC suffering fuel injector problems. David James retired earlier with a small engine fire in his Focus. Liam McCarthy’s Corolla WRC had rear body work damage but was continuing. This was after a truck ran into the Murphy Construction backed car on a road section.

Group N after stage 2 was led by Colm Murphy from James Foley with Roy White 3rd. Young Keith Cronin was 4th, Alan Ring 5th just ahead of Willie Fannin. Kevin O’Donoghue is running with No.154 on his Lancer and he is right in amongst the leaders. James O’Sullivan has had fuel pressure problems with his Lancer and he has lost a lot of time.

The later runners coming off stage 2 reported a lot of muck on the road, the leading cars pulling out grass and mud from the verges.

Kieran Marshall reports a return of his engine sensor problem and he is struggling to keep his Civic going, Kieran hoping to clinch his class on the Pirelli Tarmac C/ship today.

On the Bushwhacker Rally Kevin Lynch was leading Glenn Allen by 10s after stage 2 with Robbie McGurk 3rd, Raymond Johnston 4th, Sean Devine 5th and rally sponsor Brian McGillin 6th. Stephen Moore tumbled his Focus on the first stage and blocked the road. Kris Meeke phoned us to find out how Cork 20 was going and told us he is having a ball in the OO Escort and set equal time with Robbie McGurk on the first stage.
