The above times are from the first few cars
only – there are still some quick guys to come. As can be seen
above Charlie Donnelly was fastest out of the box. Charlie looking
really confident when he brought his Corolla to the stage finish.
Dunlop Championship leader Ray Breen told us that he had been too
cautious. Damp mizzly conditions were not making life easy for any
of the drivers.
Jim Harrison appeared at stage finish
several cars out of order, and with the front of the Man Direct
Impreza well smashed up. Co driver Harvey Bell was nearly in tears
as he told us. “No intercom, no notes, three spins and an
accident, a disaster”.
Eamonn Boland set his good time despite
being on slick tyres in the wet conditions. Noel Redmond was 8th
fastest and he said he was just trying to keep a nice clean line
in his Impreza. JJ Fleming told of a spin in his Subaru.
Willie Fannin was fastest of the Group N
runners, despite Willie reporting the back end of his Impreza
skipping about over the jumps. Michael Curran was just 3s down on
Fannin. Alan Ring was a further 13s back.
Some other times included – Denis Cronin on
7.48.0. Kevin Barrett 7.57.8. Hugh M Doherty 7.48.4.
