The above leaderboard is a continuation from RallyNews
No.2 and has some additional times. Apart from 4 cars, Breen,
Donnelly, Redmond & Barrett, the remaining cars have received a
notional time for stage 2 following Sean Gallagher’s accident and
subsequent car fire.
We said on the last RallyNews that Jim Harrison’s Subaru
had crashed on the 2nd stage. This was correct, but
subsequent to this Harrison’s Impreza has appeared here at service
in the midst of the cars that were held up behind the Gallagher
accident. What is going to happen as regards Harrison’s time we
do not as yet know – it is not beyond the bounds of possibility
that he could still be in the rally and indeed still in
contention.
Further stories from stage 1 include – Jack Sleator spun
his Fabia and held up Willie Fannin. James O’Sullivan’s Lancer is
down on power. The crew changed the turbo last night but the car
still doesn’t seem right, his total 17.05. Don Butler scraped the
side of his group N lancer but lost little time. Liam Wall would
appear to be the fastest of the 2 wheel drive runners so far,
Wall’s Escort on a total of 17.03. David James is on 17.10 in his
Escort. James Coleman 1723 in his Mk2.
Some further times include – Willie Fannin on 17.05.
Gabriel Martin 17.08. Don Butler 17.15. Darragh Rafferty 17.19.
David McNulty 17.14. Pat Price 17.24. James Stafford in the Nova
had a good time of 8.21 despite holing his exhaust.
Andrew Mullan is out in a newly acquired Puma, and ex Guy
Wilks car, Sligo Pallets man Andrew still getting used to the left
hand drive and describes the car as “brutal”. Andrew is leading
his class in the Dunlop National championship and very much needs
a finish today, but is really struggling with the new car.
Interestingly, Andrew is one of Eugene Donnelly’s most
enthusiastic sponsors and is co driving for him next weekend in
Lurgan Park.
