Kevin
Lynch continues to move ahead after fastest times through stages two
and three while Glenn Allen matched Lynch through stage four. Kevin
is still suffering from brake problems and it seems that the brakes
are not cooling properly, and at the end of the longer stages the
brakes are actually going on fire and the crew are having to pour
water on them to put out the flames. Glenn Allen is driving hard in
second overall but is finding his Corolla WRC a bit of a handful. The
car is floating on the gravel roads and Glenn is struggling to get the
diffs working to his liking but made an adjustment for stage four that
he feels was a move in the right direction. Missing from the
leaderboard is Raymond Johnston who is reportedly pulled up in stage
three. Kieran Shaw has adjusted the seat in his Escort WRC and is
much happier with his new seating position. Denis Biggerstaff
suffered a time consuming puncture in stage two caused by the tyre
rubbing against the strut and the crew have taken a spacer from the
back wheel and put it on the front and are much happier with the
Impreza WRC now.
The GpN
race is now headed by a flying Johnny McKenna who has sorted out his
earlier intercom problems but it is last years GpN winner Seamus
Donnelly who is in bother. His Lancer has no second gear and with
minimal service time there is no chance to fix it, Seamus is going to
try and drive around the problem. Stephen Moore is getting on the
pace and is just off the leaderboard on a total of 21.57 while Martin
Elliott is coming to terms with the gravel stages and has a total of
22.16. A change to earlier on is that Sean Moriarty is co driving for
American Laim Egan and not Sean Mulaly. The team are bedding
themselves in well and have a total of 22.27. More News Later Michael
