Another fastest time from Kevin Lynch on the first run on Lurgan
Park’s second layout. Last years winner might not have the huge
advantage that he had earlier today, but he is still adding to what is
a comfortable lead by Lurgan park standards. He posted 1.53.7 that
time, with Eugene Donnelly 2nd on 1.54.1 and Kenny
McKinstry 3rd on 1.54.4.
No
major dramas among the top three, although Kenny did arrive back in
service with the right side of his Subaru sporting some battle scars,
“We grazed the tyres at the bus stop chicane, “ said Noel Orr. “It’s
probably about 1500 pounds worth of damage!”
Niall
McShea suffered a disaster in that stage. The Production car world
champion stalled on the line and lost nearly 10 seconds. “Something
went wrong with the launch control” Said Niall. The problem has
dropped him to 7th overall. McShea’s dramas moved Glenn
Allen into 4th and Paul Bird into 5th, after
what the Englishman described as a “tidy run.”
Garry
Jennings was quickest in GpN again, pipping Mike Curran by just 0.1 of
a second as the 2 youngsters fight it out in the standard category.
Indeed, such is Jennings pace, that he is now 8th overall,
ahead of several WR Cars.
Other
dramas included an off from Neil Dougan. “We had a big moment on the
gravel in the trees. We thought we were going to hit something hard”
said Neil. The incident cost him about 10 seconds.
In the
Escort MkII challenge, Alistair Cochrane set a stunning time to beat
Wesley Patterson by a tenth of a second on that run. The overall lead
in the section is still held by David James, but he dropped 2 full
seconds to Patterson and is now only 0.6 of a second clear.
