There were no major changes to the overnight results, just a few adjustments to compensate for the interrupted stages.  Donie O'Sullivan starts the day with almost 2 minutes of a lead.  There were to be 8 stages on the agenda today, that has been reduced to 6 because the Ardfield stage cannot run due to a bereavement of a resident.

Just some of the class leaders include Phil Collins who leads class 14 and is the highest placed 2 wheel drive competitor. Tom Randles is 2nd in cl.14, down in 27th overall following his electrical problems on the first morning. Kieran O'Callaghan leads group N from Willie Fannin, with Gabriel Martin 3rd in gpN. James O'Sullivan 4th in the 023 Tiles Lancer despite all sorts of clutch and differential troubles. Mark Morgan is 5th Group N. Peter Clifford 6th. Eddy Garry 7th and 20th overall. Alan Ring in his new Subaru 21st and 8th in category.

Willie Power leads class 13 from Gwyndaf Evans with Tim Ball in the Darrian 3rd. John Sinclair leads class 11 from Pat Ahearne with Peter O'Neill 3rd. Fintan Canty leads class 10.

Leading retirements from day 1 included Denis Cronin, who was 3rd overall until gear selection troubles afflicted his Celica. Paddy White pulled out following a small accident in stage 8, and his Impreza WRC steering got damaged. Willie McCarthy has gone, Willie's Escort had gear troubles. All 3 of the Hyundai Accents have retired - Noel Redmond and Maurice Gass after accidents.  Shane Braniff stopped with mechanical troubles that turned out to be a faulty BAP sensor, BAP stands for something like Boost Activated Pressure.  There were MSD engineers on the rally, they sorted the problem and Shane is going out to do the Sunday run.

Frank Cunningham (Cooper S) was leading the Historics but now Joe Connolly (Escort) has got in front with Cunningham 2nd, Martin Ward 3rd.
Finally for now Happy Birthday to living legend Dougie Hughes, the commentator celebrating his 71st today!
