Kevin Lynch was provisionally lying 2nd on the leaderboard after stage 4 but
his Subaru has not appeared out of stage 5 and reliable reports would indicate
that the car is off the road and stuck. Apparently stage 5 is very slippy,
it has been raining heavily. Earlier Lynch had been having gear change
difficulties and although he led after stage 2, Niall Maguire was a lot faster
through stages 3 and 4.
Cahal Arthurs was well in the hunt earlier, up into 3rd position, but his
Accent has had turbo charger problems, particularly on stage 3. He jury rigged a
bit of a repair himself on the road section after stage 3, managed to get
through 4, and the mechanics were able to sort something at the interim service.
More news coming in …..it seems that Arthurs has handed in his time cards
after stage 5 and has retired.
In Group N Willie Fannin's position at the front was under threat after stage
4 where incurred a puncture, more news to follow on this.
