With two stages to go in this Triton Showers Lurgan Park rally, Kevin Lynch appears to have assumed control at the top of the leaderboard. The Subaru driver set another stunning time through stage 6, to extend his lead over Mark Higgins by another second. Kevin remarked, "There’s still a little bit left in the car, but I’m not about to try get it out of it. This is a strong pace but we can’t make any mistakes". Mark commented, "There was one corner in there where I dropped a couple of tenths but it was otherwise fine. I think Kevin has the pace today".

Double British Champion Jonny Milner has pegged back any charge from 4th placed Denis Biggerstaff. The Metro man was two-tenths of a second faster in stage 6 but Milner still has over six seconds in hand in the battle for the final podium position.

The battle for fifth is much closer. Another strong time from James Gillen has moved him level on time with Kevin Barrett. Both men reported no dramas so this looks set to be a clean scrap through the final two stages. Daniel Doherty holds seventh in his Subaru. Daniel commented "We don’t have much forest experience so we are learning more about the loose with every run". Maurice Gass, Glen Allen and Ollie O’Donovan round out the top ten but the hard charging Keith White is only three seconds off Ollie in eleventh and determined to get a 2WD car into the top ten. Keith said "We had another clean run in there but our time was exactly the same as it was in stage five. We just have to keep pushing".

Mike Curran leads class 1, almost five seconds clear of father Dick. Fastest class 1 on stage six was actually Raymond Johnston, who is catching the elder Curran as he gets used to his new Mitsubishi.

More news later – when normal service will be resumed …… maybe….. we’ll see…
