Changes to the overnight official results include Austin MacHale moving up one place.  The 1 minute penalty applied for the alleged stage 3 jump start was reduced to 30s in deference to the wording of the "Green Book".  Liam McCarthy's 2 minute penalty stands.  On our last Saturday RallyNews we mentioned that Eugene Donnelly seemed to get a slower time on stage 9 than what was shown on his timecard. It transpires that Eugene, in his massive charge to regain the time lost when the rear prop shaft broke, beat the "bogey time".

As can be seen above, Alan Ring leads the important Group N category from Colm Murphy, with Eoin Doyle 3rd.  Further class leaders include: Guy Woodcock, 21st overall and leading F2 in his Escort.  Glen Wilson had led that class until stage 9 but he lost a few seconds and is just behind the cross channel visitor. Aidan Burke is leading cl.2 in his Civic from Jimmy White. Jimmy hasn't been out for a while and was shaking the rust off yesterday. Thomas O'Rourke leads cl.3 in his Astra from Raymond Gilleece. Dominic Naughton is having another good run in his Saxo to lead cl.6 from John Fleming. Michael Herbert leads cl.5 in his Nissan Micra and Frank Tuomey leads cl.1 in his Swift.

In the National part of the rally Phil Collins/Diarmuid Falvey have a massive lead in their Escort over Fergal Allen in his BMW M3.  Brendan Brosnan is 3rd overall in the Nationals.  Interestingly, Phil Collins' performance yesterday would be good enough to put him in 6th overall in the main rally, which is a fairly startling show in a Mk2 Escort.

Martin Freestone/Chris Heyes lead the Historic part of the rally from Joe & Gareth Connolly, also in an Escort. Joe Connolly had led initially.  Mike Doody is 3rd in his Mini Cooper. Martin Ward 4th in his Manta. Frank Cunningham 5th in his Mini Cooper and Don Moynihan 6th in his Escort.
