Kevin Lynch continues
to stretch his lead at the front of this Dogleap Rally. The Dungiven
business man was fastest by six seconds in stage three from Kieran
Shaw and five seconds faster than Glen Allen in stage four to increase
his lead to 29 seconds despite still only having five gears in the
KPL Impreza. Glen Allen suffered a broken brake pipe in stage three
but his misfire seems to have cured itself, but Glen was his usual
cheery self when he quipped "there is not going to be much
of a race today" referring not to his own problems, but to
the impressive speed that Kevin Lynch is showing.
Denis Biggerstaff
was getting closer to the pace in his Impreza WRC, Denis closing
the gap to fifth placed Kevin OâKane to just three seconds, the
Dromara man said about his Impreza "you know the problem with
these cars ö there is no adrenaline rush" as he reminisced
about his old 6R4.
Richard Hogg is
another one settling into his new car, the local man thinks that
he has a problem with the sequential gear change on his GpA Lancer,
the box not pulling between second and third gear, Richard having
to declutch, but more importantly he is wasting time thinking about
it. As we reported earlier Sean Lynch was stopped at the start of
stage two, and it has been confirmed that last yearâs winning car
had broken its cam belt, Lynch had been an impressive seventh fastest
through the opening stage.
Dermott Kelly is
"getting into the groove" as he and Greg Shinnors report
no problems in eighth place. Brendan O'Hagan is still a little bit
cautious after hitting a tree in Davagh last Sunday and lies just
off the leaderboard on a total of 17.46.
