Last yearâs
Dogleap Rally winner Kevin Lynch has immediately stamped his authority
on the opening two stages. Six seconds faster than anyone through
the opening stage and ten seconds faster than Glen Allen through
the second stage in Cam Forest, and this is despite Lynchâs KPL
Subaru running with only five gears. The following drivers were
impressed by Lynchâs lines through the Cam stage, one leading driver
commenting "his lines are very impressive, not stupid, just
an awful lot of commitment". Glen Allen was happy with his
pace through the opening stage but his Escort WRC developed a bad
misfire in Cam, and although Glen knew he was loosing time he wasnât
quite sure how much time had been lost.
Kieran Shaw
has settled into a solid third place, Kieran commenting "I
am much happier now the steering wheel is on the right side",
the Magherafelt man referring to his Imprezaâs recent switch to
right hand drive. Kevin OâKane reported no problems in his Impreza
while James Murphy having made the long trip up to Limavady reckons
he was a bit cautious over the opening two stages.
John McGlaughlin
leads GpN by 6 seconds from Eamon McElean with both Michael Curran
and Seamus Donnelly struggling with a lack a recee. Michaelâs father
Dickie did his pacenote checking for him and the youngster wasnât
to impressed with his fatherâs work.
Keith White
set a stunning time of 8.51 through Cam to dominate the two wheel
drive race, he now lies seventh overall and is 13 seconds up on
the next two wheel driver challenger Andy Magee. Trevor Moore set
a good time in stage one of 2.20 but his Mk2 has eaten its air filter
in stage two and his mechanics are working feverishly to try and
repair the machine.
