Overnight class leaders include - David Parle leading class 2 in his Civic from Ed O'Neill. Mark Morgan leads group N in his Lancer Evo7 from Andrew Hadden with Dean Williams 3rd. Emily O'Mahony leads class 5 in her Ford Ka - Frank's daughter being the only one left in the class.  Max McKillen leads class 6 in his Citroen Saxo and is lying 17th overall, Max is almost 6 minutes up on 2nd in class David Kidd in a Peugeot 106.  Stephen Cleary is 3rd in another Peugeot. Pete & Jo Johnson lead class 7 in their Astra.   Former National Champion, from way back, James Doherty is showing a bit of his old flair to lead cl.9 in a Corsa with Nigel Pugh 2nd in a Micra and Tony McCaul 3rd in an Astra. Jerry O'Mahony leads cl.10 in an Escort from Philip Cross (Sunbeam), Colm Noonan 3rd in a 205.  John Foley Jnr. leads cl.11 from Tim O'Donovan with Wm. Kenneally 3rd, 2 Corollas and an Escort. John Shanahan is shown as well down in the class with a bucket of road penalties, otherwise he would be leading that class. Tim McCarthy leads cl.12 in his G3 Escort from Diarmuid Keohane with Martin Daly 3rd. 023 Tiles Southern 4 series is, at the minute, led by Tommy Graham from Ollie O'Donovan, Kieran O'Neill 3rd. 023 man James O'Sullivan retired yesterday with axle trouble.

Kieran O'Neill leads class 13 from Dewi Bowen with Willie McCarthy 3rd.  Phil Collins leads class 14 from Derek Smith with Douglas Richardson 3rd.  Richard Suff leads cl.16. While in the Historic section of the rally John Keatley leads in his Ford RS1600 from Conor Falvey, also in an Escort, with Gerard McCarthy 3rd in a TR7.  Historic retirements include Drexel Gillespie and John Farrell, both with transmission trouble, while Donal McGrath also retired.

Interesting overall placings include….Sean Keenan in 16th, after having turbo problems with his TTI run Celica. John Cope is 18th. Kieran O'Neill 19th and Stephen Carway 20th. Tim O'Riordan decided to retire his Escort Cosworth at service last night because of transmission worries. Barry Coleman is shown as 28th on the overnight results, but that includes a road penalty, which is being removed. More news later..BRIAN & LIZ PATTERSON
