Jonny Milner took time out to pirouette his Corolla WRC in
front of the spectators here at the Pickering super
special. Jonny made it business as usual however when
he went back into the forests and set fastest time through
stage 12, Staindale, and it looks like he has set fastest
time through stage 13, Langdale. Further news from
Langdale is that Julian Reynolds has got ahead of Steve
Petch.
Gwyndaf Evans continues to lead the Super 1600s, although
his MG was slightly baulked on the way to the service out
control and lost 10s penalty. This did not affect Gwyndaf's
overall position. Indeed the MG engineers did A
brilliant job once more in changing the gearbox and
alternator inside the allocated 20 minute period.
Peugeot's Rory Galligan has been forced into retirement,
his 206 breaking it's cam belt in Staindale. Leon
Pesticcio started the super special here at Pickering, but
a gearbox output shaft broke, and the 20 year old Welshman
was forced to pull out of the event. Quite a shame,
although Leon and co driver Howard Davies were well down
the list following yesterday's roll, they were setting the
stages alight with fastest group N times. Further news in
from Staindale is that young Kris Meeke had a heart
stopping moment, his Puma engine refused to fire up after
being switched off at the control. Eventually it did go and
all is now well.
Phil Morgan continues to lead gpN, Phil having a smooth run
in his Impreza, one of his best performances this year.
Adrian Wilson is 2nd in gpN, Jeremy Noland 3rd. Ollie
Marshall in his Golf leads class A7 in the event from Kate
Heath. Italian visitor Marco Veroni continues to lead
class N3 from Rob Stone. Mark Simpson leads cl.A5 and John
Moxon class N1.
CLUBMANS - Richard Hill in car No.413 leads today's
Clubmans part of the rally after stage 11 from Gary Cooper
with Donovan Jenkin 3rd. More news later. BRIAN AND LIZ
PATTERSON
