David Higgins in the Barratts Subaru recorded 16.41.6 and Jonny Milner is coming back into the picture, his Corolla stopping the clocks on 16.45.5. No other car broke the 17 minute barrier. Tapio commented "The suspension felt a bit soft through the first forest stage, I was able to tighten it up and the car feels better, but I still took it a bit carefully. It takes a little while to get used to the gpN and the limited power compared to a WRC". David Higgins said "It’s all going well so far, we’re very comfortable, the car is good. I found Falstone a bit rough". Mark Higgins managed to hold on to 3rd position despite putting his Focus on the roof – he arrived in with the windscreen smashed and other damage, but mostly cosmetic and reported "It was about 6 miles from the end of Falstone, a long corner, got very sideways, kept my foot in but the car caught the ditch and it flipped. The spectators had us back on our wheels very quickly". Steve Petch in 4th reports his car to be handling better than on the Astra Stages, more traction, and he is doing his best to keep the Hyundai out of the ditches to avoid punctures. Those in puncture trouble included Austin McHale who has dropped a mountain of time. Alistair Ginley in the ADR prepared Lancer punctured a front left tyre and it took Alistair and co driver Rory Kennedy about 4 minutes to change. Although they practised the job yesterday and had it down to 2 minutes. Jonny Milner reports that it was 2 punctures that slowed him through stage 3 and he took it fairly steady through stage 4. Marcus Dodd’s retirement is confirmed as having rolled his Subaru almost at the flying finish of SS3. In Super 1600 Gwyndaf Evans is pulling ahead of the opposition – Gwyndaf reporting "Snap understeer" with his MG, could be down to something loose in the back, but otherwise going very well. Justin Dale has moved back into 2nd in the Super 1600, and that was despite having a spongy brake pedal following a hydraulic pipe getting knocked off on stage 3. More news later..BRIAN AND LIZ PATTERSON LATEST NEWS: Chris Moore has lost the lead of the Peugeot Super 206 Cup to Garry Jennings – Moore’s 206 reportedly off road.
