Re:  Monaghan Stages Rally

During the running of the Monaghan Stages Rally near Scotstown, Co Monaghan on today, the 21st April 2002, an accident occurred where a competitor travelling in one of the competing cars was fatally injured.  The organisers of the event, Co Monaghan Motor Club immediately cancelled the remainder of the event.

A full investigation involving Motorsport Ireland (Governing Body) and an Garda Siochana is now underway.

As a mark of respect Motorsport Ireland has postponed their annual prize presentations due to be held tomorrow the 22nd April 2002.
