Co-driver James O'Brien, sitting beside Andrew Nesbitt, and
running 4th on the road this morning, when asked for his
time here at the end of Molls Gap..and said
"slow". He was joking. Nesbitt's
Impreza WRC stopped the clocks on 9.22. Rally leader
Derek McGarrity could only manage 9.42 although his time
yesterday was 9.33. Eamonn Boland was 2nd fastest
this morning with 9.35. McGarrity commented that he had
made a wrong tyre choice. Nesbitt on the other hand made no
comment on his tyres, he's just flat out and going for it.
Derek on the other hand seems to be on the back foot,
possibly demoralised at Nesbitt's fastest time after
fastest time. Even the 2 minute time loss yesterday
with the drive shaft problem has failed to dent Nesbitt's
confidence or determination. Eamonn Boland was well pleased
with his time. Liam O'Callaghan reported no problems.
Daniel Doherty feels that his performance is getting better
with every stage. Austin McHale rounds off the top 6
- his time was 9.49, 5th fastest for the stage and Austin
was saying little at the finish line.
In Group N Donie O'Sullivan was 9s faster than Trevor
Cathers, Seamus Leonard 7s slower than Cathers. O'Sullivan
commented "I'm feeling very comfortable".
Just outside the top 12 - Denis Cronin is 13th and leads
the 2 wheel drive category. Liam McCarthy 14th in his
Corolla WRC. Tony Davies 15th in the Metro 6R4. Pete
Doughty 16th. Tom Randles 17th. Jimmy Lambert 18th. Drivers
in trouble this morning included Maurice Gass, whose Subaru
has stopped on the gap, as has Tom Holton's Toyota.
