We took it fairly easy". Slippy indeed. The conditions are causing problems all round, and although the top cars have arrived here at service, the rally has been stopped because of accidents behind the lead cars on stages 1 and 2. Second fastest Peadar Hurson said "It was scary over the big jumps". While Mark Higgins dropped a place to the Celica driver when he stalled his Corolla WRC on the start line of the 2nd stage. "Forgot to switch on the anti lag" was Mark’s comment. Main stories include – Trevor Cathers has retired his Lancer when reportedly a driveshaft broke and spun the car around. Derek McGarrity lost approximately 20s when his Impreza WRC suffered a front left puncture. Austin McHale lost time on both stages, his Corolla front differential sending all the wrong messages to the wheels. Paul Harris reported his car very low in the suspension and crashing out. Owen Lamont had a big 6th gear spin and lost time. Seamus Heron broke his Lancer's diff on a massive jump in stage 2 and his co driver Gerry McVeigh commented "You could have heard it in Ballybofrey". Andrew Stewart lost time in the stage when his Lancer’s turbo pipe came adrift after a jump. English visitor Steve Bannister spun his Escort at the bridge in stage 2. More news when available.
