GROUP N DRAMA EXCLUSIONS -
Bob Fowden was originally listed as 6th overall on the
rally and group N winner, Dickie Curran was 8th and 2nd in
gpN. Trevor Cathers was 11th overall and 3rd in gpN.
All three drivers were however excluded from the rally for
a turbo dump valve infringement. The Stewards of the
Meeting report refer to "A breach of appendix J,
Article 254 FIA Year Book". This elevated Aaron
MacHale, whose car was also checked, to 1st in gpN,
Paul Alexander 2nd and Roy White 3rd. This also changed the
situation in the gpN category of the Tarmac Championship in
that instead of going into the final round in Galway with a
substantial points lead, Trevor Cathers is now only 1 point
in front of Roy White.
